The scholarship awards banquet was discussed in more detail in a recent article in the Longmont Times Call. “We’re a small organization, but we’re a lot of committed individuals and members of the community who care about the future of Longmont and the St. Vrain Valley,” said Longmont resident and Boulder firefighter Matt Zavala, who serves on the board.
According to Bob Norris, another board member, many of the students that receive scholarships are the first generation in their family to pursue secondary education. The foundation also allows students who have previously received a scholarship to re-apply for more funding as they continue their education.
We look forward to a continued partnership with the Hispanic Education Foundation and to the success that Alessandra and other scholarship recipients will undoubtedly enjoy in the future.
